Mavis Yong, Finance Manager
Upon my graduation from NTU, School of Accounting and Business (majoring in Accountancy), I plunged straight into the world of accounting where I was to stay for the next 8 years. Of the 8 years, I spent 2 years dealing with Securities & Stock broking, where I used to oversee the Treasury Operations, accounting function and reporting for Future & Leveraged Operations, and handling of various types of Trust accounts. Due to my training, I believed that an effective corporate governance system and adherence to the relevant rules and regulations, will safeguard the resources of an organization thus boosting the confidence level of the public. With this view in mind, I hope to assist the management of NHCS to strengthen the internal financial, operational and compliance controls.

I enjoyed being with them teaching them Chinese as well as singing & dancing. With my past experiences in the administration sector for four years, I am sure I can be of help and value to the work at NCHS.

Mr. Tan Wee Long, Case Manager, Shelter for Families and Individual Adults
I have been working at ITE for quite a while before I decided to switch to work in the area of helping others. I have worked for about 10 years in a faith-based agency before I joined New Hope Community Services in July 2008 as the Case manager for Shelter for Men-in-Crisis. I believe that you have to care for another person not out of duty; but out of genuine care and concern that can only come from the heart.

Ms Jenny Yeo, Case Manager, Shelter for Families
I have always wanted to do my part for the society and NHCS has provided me with the opportunity to do so. Being new, the learning curve, while steep has been enjoyable as I am learning many things from my colleagues who have had many years of experience. Truth be told, joining the social service sector has certainly change my perspective towards life. I have learnt not to take things for granted and be thankful with what we have.

Ms. Iris Teo, Care Worker, Shelter for Families
Since joining New Hope my perspective in life has changed. I learn to appreciate and be thankful for the simple things in my life especially for the ‘roof over my head’. To help people and families who are in need, you need a heart of love and compassion to lend them a helping hand along with the shelter of hope, we provide.
